Scholarship Amount: $500
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive the scholarship, an applicant must be a legal dependent (as described by IRS tax rules) of a Texas Extension Specialist Association (TESA) member in good standing. A member in good standing is defined as an active member that has paid dues for three of the past five years.
The applicant must be admitted into an eligible institution, which includes any technical school, trade school or accredited undergraduate two- or four-year college or university. The funds are to be used to pay related expenses.
TESA dependents may receive the scholarship only one time.
Application Deadline: Application requirements are outlined in the documents below. Forms should be postmarked (Dean McCorkle, 2124 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843-2124) or received via email (dean.mccorkle@ag.tamu.edu) by 11:59 P.M. Monday, June 20th, 2023.
Selection Method: The scholarship recipient will be chosen by a committee of at least three TESA members in good standing. The committee will consist of members who do not have a dependent applying for the scholarship. All decisions by the Scholarship Committee are final.
Criteria: This scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement (30%), leadership (30%), community service (30%), and need (10%).
Re-application: Those who have previously applied but not selected are encouraged to apply again. However, each recipient will be given only one TESA scholarship.
Awards: Recipient(s) will be notified by no later than Wednesday, July 6th, 2023. Each scholarship recipient will be presented at the TESA Annual Professional Development Conference July 24th – 26th, 2023 in League City, Texas.
Tax Liability: The recipient is fully responsible for any tax liability incurred as a result of these benefits being treated as taxable income. The Association may report the benefit amount as income to any taxing authority.
